Flood Tool

0:00 / 1:09

The flood fill tool enables users to fill a contiguous area of pixels with a selected color or material. This tool is commonly used when texturing to fill large areas with base colors or materials quickly.

In addition to texturing, the flood fill tool can quickly mask out areas of a model or create selection sets for further editing. The flood fill tool is useful in creating stylized or hand-painted textures, where you can quickly block in areas of color, then focus on adding detail and refining the texture.

SettingDescription
ToleranceSets the maximum amount of value difference the tool will fill in relative to value at the sample point.
Backface CullingSets the maximum angle the tool will paint at relative to the brush’s center point.
Backface FalloffSets how gradually the culling function fades to the maximum value.
SolidDetermines whether the fill tool will create a shape with opaque edges or if the edges will fade relative to the value tolerance.
Anti-AliasedDetermines where the edges will be filtered to soften and reduce jaggedness.
Apply ToDetermines which mesh elements the tool will fill.
Select FromDetermines which elements in the texture project the tool will sample from.
Use Normal Map for CullingSets whether the normal map influences the culling function. When on, the surface details in the normal map will be used for culling.
